An essential component of the Access Microscholarship Program is the focus on American holidays and events – ensuring that children are engaged through exciting, hands-on projects.
On June 24th, students celebrated Father’s Day and practiced their writing skills by creating decorative cards and learning about adjectives. Each student used these new words and phrases to describe how their father was a hero.
The program also introduced students to the American Corner in Khujand, a cultural resource center that provides access to books, movies, internet, and programming. Students enjoyed an interactive singing activity with Madina Pulotova, the Corner’s coordinator. After the session, the children were treated to their first true “American Meal” of burgers, pizza, fries, and Coca-Cola at Tajburger. For most of the students, this was the first visit to American Corner and Tajburger so they were very happy and excited.
