As an English teacher, I am always in the search of something new to apply to my classroom in order to motivate them to learn the English language.
In 2007, I was introduced to the collaborative projects of www.iearn.org and I become interested in utilizing these projects in my classroom.
Every year we have different projects.
This year we choose a School Uniform project which allow to our students to explore school uniform of other students around the world and share about their uniform and school life and activities. One of the interesting parts of this project is two times in a year students have video conference where students present their presentation about school activities and projects and prepare cultural performances.
On May 6th, at the American Corner in Qurghonteppa, we hosted a video conference. There were 15 students from Sarband and 20 schoolchildren from various Qurghonteppa schools for a iEARN virtual conference where the Sarband kids and students from China, Russia, Ukraine, Taiwan, Azerbaijan, and Colombia had a wonderful video chat session accompanied with presentations on school life, food, school activities, and school uniform.
Each country was represented by the schoolchildren who shared about their leisure time, different activities conducted in their countries at schools. Tajik students found out many interesting facts about the school life of their peers in other countries.
