Nazir Bahriddinov: Promoting Labor Rights for Women in Istaravshan and Shahristan

With the help of a U.S. Government Grant, Nazir Bahriddinov and his team have been researching the role of women laborers in rural Tajikistan. Focusing on the mountainous regions of Istaravshan and Shahristan, Bahriddinov has explored the valuable contributions that women make in the agricultural sector. As part of his project, his team has held ten seminars for over 200 people and gathered a diverse array of information regarding agricultural productivity. Part of these information sessions have been aimed at increasing awareness of labor rights throughout Tajikistan - especially those of women. Bahriddinov found that many female laborers are unaware of their rights and thus likely to lose out on compensation and be sidelined in the agricultural sector. While work has been done to rectify this situation, Bahriddinov is still working on completing his project and finalizing the results.
